The above links are current. If anyone has any suggestions for other sites, please feel free to post your comment and I'll update this blog entry. For your specific interest, please use Google to search the web for further information.

There are other U.S. Government agencies that have positions in Europe, e.g., Department of State, Department of the Treasury (Internal Revenue Service), etc. that may not appear on the USAJOBS web site. You may have to be an employee of a specific government agency and/or possess a specific clearance for some of these positions overseas and abroad.

You should also be aware that for many jobs on-base/post, preference is given to spouses of activie duty personnel, unmarried dependent children including stepchildren, adopted children, and foster children not more than 23 years of age residing with a member of the U.S. Armed Forces or a U.S. citizen civilian employee of a U.S. Government Agency, U.S. military retirees and former U.S. military individuals. The comment just made is not meant to discourage you from applying for any position, especially if you possess a specialized skill and/or experience. Except for the positions on-base/post for "Local Nationals", you must be a U.S. citizen and have a valid US passport.

Many people use relatives, friends, friends of friends, etc. to forward their mail to them, or bring items from the States when these individuals are traveling overseas. If you do not want to ask someone to do it for you, you can use one of the "mail forwarding/package delivery services" mentioned above or another one either in the town (city) or location where you used to live or search the web for a "mail forwarding service"or "package delivery service". You have many choices.

Be sure that you checkout whatever company that you choose and that they are reputable and they have a history in providing this type of service. Failure on your part may lead to lost mail or an item, that you may not know about for months.

Please remember, once a "mail forwarding or package delivery service" signs a dated receipt for a registered/certified letter or for any item requiring a signed and dated receipt on your behalf, the sender is under the impression that you have either read or seen their correspondence or received the package based upon that original dated receipt -- NOT the actual date that you received it or the item wherever you are in Italy or the world. There may even be financial or legal consequences by not replying to a mailed request/inquiry in a timely manner.

CAVEAT:

Item #1: While you may pay less for an item in the USA, please be aware that you may be liable for Italian customs fees on any "insured" package and/or a package larger than the size of a shoe box that is forwarded to you in Italy from the USA. Please note: the Italian customs fees are NOT standardized.

Item #2: Please be aware that any item shipped to another EU (European Union) country or another country before its eventual delivery to Italy are subjected to the "transit country's" restrictions of certain "prohibited" items. These restrictions on "prohibited" items may be on but are not limited to: prescription drugs or specific OTC medications, shoes, tobacco items, etc. Please check with your respective "mail forwarding or package delivery service" about "restrictions" before ordering the item for eventual delivery to Italy.

That's it for Saturday, 8 July 2006: giovedì, 8 luglio 2006.

Info on the Blog Postings/Entries for June, 2006 About, For or On Italy

(LAST EDITED/UPDATED: 14 July 2006)

Here are the titles for my blog postings/entries for June About, For or On Italy:

The above links are current. In the event of a broken link or if anyone has any suggestions for other sites, please feel free to post your comment and I'll update and/or correct this blog entry.

Please note: I do NOT represent or endorse any of these links nor do I receive payment for listing them in my blog.

The reason that I list these links is to provide information for individuals who are dreaming or considering a move to Italy. It is my intent to share these links (web sites) with like-minded individuals who are either in the process of considering or have made the decision to move to Italy for whatever reason. I have attempted to group these links and to categorize them.

These blog postings and entries are not static. As I come across new information, I update the appropropriate blog entry.

* = Blog entry has been updated.

I have found in my research on the Internet that by changing the wording of the search argument or the order of the wording of the search argument on a search engine, e.g., Google, you may get different results. There is so much information to choose from on the internet. Unfortunately, there's a lot of junk that clutters up one's search. I believe in my presentation format that it eliminates the need for one to do multiple searches. Also, I believe this information is a baseline for another individual to conduct their own search and they do not have to reinvent the wheel.

For my blog, I am presenting the fruits of my efforts of just a portion of that information in a format that is of use to my wife and myself for future use and reference (and hopefully, other individuals) as we prepare for our move to Italy.

I am open to suggestions and solicit comments from the readers of this blog for your feedback.

That's it for Saturday, 1 July 2006: giovedì, 1 luglio 2006.
