.In December, 2006, there was a major change in the procedure for various permits, e.g., residence, etc. Instead of going to the Questura, you now go to a specific Poste Italiane (post office) wherever you live or the next town or village, fill out the required form(s), get a receipt and mail it. Needless to say, not all Poste Italiane were ready or equipped with trained personnel to handle this new procedure and it has led to confusion and frustration for the applicant of the required permit.
I'll be writing more about this change. In September, 2007, I will see experience this new procedure since I'll be moving to Italy with my wife, Martha, who is now an Italian citizen.
