If you are looking for real estate or rental information, I would suggest that you look under the section labeled "MISCELLANEOUS" above or search the Internet. There are too many web sites to list individually.

What you will find above is information for individuals: living in the Toscana (Tuscany) region of Italy, spending some time in that region or planning to come to this region of Italy. There is a wealth of information on and about Toscana on the web. This blog entry is not intended to be all inclusive but a sampling of some of the wonders, joys and sights of the Regione Toscana.

I am sure there are more books, blogs and other information on Toscana (Tuscany) region of Italy. When I move to Toscana in mid-September, 2007, I will be updating these two blog entries as I discover and learn about them. More to follow....

That's it for Tuesday, 26 June 2007: martedì, 26 giugno 2007.

Info on the Blog Postings/Entries for May, 2007 About, For or On Italy

(LAST EDITED/UPDATED: 12 June 2007)

Here are the titles for my blog postings/entries for May About, For or On Italy:

* = Blog entry has been updated.

The above links are current. If anyone has any suggestions for other sites, please feel free to post your comment and I'll update this blog entry. For your specific interest, please search the web for further information using Google .

Please note: I do NOT represent or endorse any of these links nor do I receive payment for listing them in my blog.

The reason that I list these links is to provide information for individuals who are dreaming, considering a move or traveling to Italy. It is my intent to share these links (web sites) with like-minded individuals who are in the process of considering, have made the decision to move or travel to Italy for whatever reason. I have attempted to group these links and to categorize them.

These blog postings and entries are not static. As I come across new information, I'll update the appropriate blog entry periodically.

I have found in my research on the Internet that by changing the wording of the search argument or the order of the wording of the search argument on a search engine, e.g., Google, you may get different results. There is so much information to choose from on the internet. Unfortunately, there's a lot of junk that clutters up one's search. I believe in my presentation format that it eliminates the need for one to do multiple searches. Also, I believe this information is a baseline or starting point for an individual to conduct their own search and they do not have to reinvent the wheel or start from scratch.

I am open to suggestions and solicit comments from the readers of this blog entry for your feedback.

That's it for Friday, 1 June 2007: venerdì, 1 giugno 2007.

However, in 2006, my wife and I spent 3 nights in an apartment listed under APARTMENT RENTAL above, Rent Our Apartment! – Fano, Marche as a guest of the owner, Mark Pukita AKA Marco. We greatly enjoyed spending time in Fano in this new, modern, two bedroom apartment. It is located a block outside the old walled portion of Fano. The apartment is within walking distance of the beach, stores, shops and many fine restaurants. A very nice bakery is next door to the apartment building.

My wife, Martha, and I have only spent a little time in the LeMarche region. We have just scratched the surface of this beautiful and charming region of Italy. In 2005, we just drove through a part of the LeMarche region traveling from Tuscany to Casperia in the Lazio region. In 2006, we spent 4 days and 3 nights in Fano in an apartment and 3 days and 2 nights in Numana at a hotel on the beach. We enjoyed Fano so much that we looked at a few apartments in this Italian town.

Between the two of us, we have traveled at 16+ times to Italy since the late 80's from North to South and East to West and back again. Staying a few days, a week or up to 4 weeks in various regions of Italy. We have rented houses and/or apartments in Tuscany and Umbria and stayed at hotels and B&B's in other parts of Italy. We usually lease a car from Renault EuroDrive for stays over 17 days in Nice and drive over the border to Italy. We have found leasing a brand new card is less expensive than renting a car in Italy. However, this year, I rented a car via AutoEurope because I was in Italy for less than 2 weeks.

Right now, the Marche region is at the top of the list on where we may live when we move to Italy in the next 2 - 3 years. I'll be writing more about this region in the future and after our 2007 trip to Italy.

CAVEAT EMPTOR is Latin for "let the buyer beware". Buying real estate and property in Italy can be and is a challenge. Please note: The real estate agent, the property owner or the person showing or inspecting the property for you, need not tell you or are they obligated to inform you of any deficiency about the property. As a prospective foreign buyer, you need to hire:
    1. Someone you can trust to inspect the property for you and provide in writing (English or in the language of your choice), the actual condition of the property inside and out with recommendations for any additions, modifications and/ or correction to structural, electrical, heating, sewer, etc. to property and/or bring up the property to current building code. Any cost estimates in Euro for additions and modifications should accompanied this property inspection report.
    2. Someone to guide you through the Italian real estate maze. Based on what I have read in other forums, it is normally NOT the real estate agent.
There are hundreds, if not thousands of agencies, individuals that will rent or sell property to you in Italy. Buying and renting property in Italy is a lot different than in the States. You do not have the same safeguards and consumer protection than what you are used to let's say in Virginia or California.

Be sure you not only checkout the property but also the real estate agent and their respective company. Some companies in Italy and elsewhere may have web sites that will catch your eye and/or offer to take the burden out of buying property in a foreign country. It is incumbent upon you to legally buy the property and to pay the required taxes.

It should be noted that there are companies in Italy that for a "fee" will assist the foreign buyer (read non-Italian) with their real estate transaction. While this may allow a certain comfort level, be sure to checkout and verify these types of companies are legimate. You do not want your "Italian Dream House/Apartment" to become your worse nightmare.

Several of the above web sites for properties, rentals or real estate agents/companies have been mentioned in various forums on Expats In Italy or slow travel italy.

The above is only a sampling of what is available to you if you are looking to rent or buy in Italy. I am sure everyone may have a favorite real estate agent or company (Immobiliare) and to the best of my ability, I will update this blog entry with your suggested additions.

    That's it for Sunday, 27 November 2005: domenica, 27 Novembre 2005
